Rubber Excavator Tracks: How to Choose the Right Size

Rubber tracks wear out. When yours do, getting the size right the first time saves you a return freight bill and a lot of frustration. Here is a quick guide.
How to read a track size
Track sizes are written as three numbers, for example 230 x 72 x 45. In order, they are the track width in millimetres, the pitch (the distance between drive lugs) in millimetres, and the number of links. The size is usually moulded into the inside of the track.
Which size suits which machine
| Track size | Suits | Price (pair) |
|---|---|---|
| 230 / 72V / 45 | Our smaller mini excavators; may suit other 1 to 1.4 tonne machines | $990 |
| 250 / 72 / 53 | Our larger mini excavators; may suit other 2 to 3 tonne machines | $1,490 |
Both are brand new take-off tracks manufactured to the GB/T 20786 standard. Always confirm fitment before ordering, especially on other brands.
When to replace
- Cracks across the lugs or sidewalls
- Missing chunks of rubber or lugs
- Exposed steel cords
- Tracks that keep coming off even when tension is correct
