Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
The warranty below is in addition to those rights.
2-year manufacturer's warranty (new excavators)
Every new Jay-Hawk excavator comes with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty from the date of delivery or pickup.
What's covered: defects in materials or workmanship. Hoses, bearings and seals are replaced free of charge during the warranty period.
Warranty repairs anywhere in Australia: we arrange the repair and cover the full cost. We'll either send a local plant mechanic we choose, or send a technician from our certified mechanics, BHS Equipment.
Prefer your own mechanic? You can use any qualified plant mechanic you choose and we'll cover up to $2,000 of warranty repair costs, one time only, within the first two years. Valid nationwide. To use this option:
- Contact us before any work starts. Work done without our approval isn't covered.
- Send us a video or photos of the fault (or jump on a video call) so we can confirm it's a warranty issue.
- Your mechanic must be a registered business with an ABN.
- We pay the mechanic directly against their itemised tax invoice in their business name.
- Keep the failed parts and send us photos of them. We may ask for them to be returned.
What's not covered:
- Normal wear and tear (for example bucket teeth, track wear, filters, fluids)
- Damage from accidents, misuse, overloading or operating outside the manual
- Lack of servicing, or damage from using the wrong fuel, oil or hydraulic fluid
- Modifications or repairs not approved by us
- Rubber tracks, parts and attachments bought separately are covered by a 6-month warranty against defects in materials or workmanship (not wear and tear or incorrect fitting), as well as your Australian Consumer Law rights.
Keeping your warranty valid
- Service the machine at the intervals in the operator's manual and keep records (receipts or logbook).
- Servicing can be done by our certified plant mechanics, BHS Equipment, Rocklea QLD (07 3523 9611), or any qualified mechanic.
How to make a claim
- Contact us on 0422 999 583 or jeremy@jayhawkdiggers.com.au as soon as you notice the problem.
- Tell us your name, the model, purchase date, and a description of the fault. Photos or video help a lot.
- Stop using the machine if continuing could make the damage worse.
- We'll have the machine inspected (by BHS Equipment or a mechanic we choose) to confirm the fault.
- If it's faulty, we'll repair it, replace the machine, or give you a full refund. For a major failure, you choose between a replacement and a refund.
Costs: when we arrange the repair, we cover parts, labour and the mechanic's travel. Your Australian Consumer Law rights apply regardless.
